Bahia's best tables

Your host, Bruno Guinard, landed in Bahia 30 years ago – so bewitched by the charm of the city, he decided never to leave: “In Bahia, everyone co-exists and everyone becomes Bahian. Assimilation is not the approach here, in Bahia, everyone can breathe.”

Bruno’s preferred tables… and favourite places to take a break
• Paraiso Tropical (Cabula), Bahian cuisine with a chef’s touch, original and succulent.
• Soho (Marina), Japanese and varied cuisine, excellent quality, on the edge of the bay.
• The Laporte Glacier (Pelourinho), real delicacies with exotic scents, opposite the São Francisco Church.
• Le Cafelier (Carmo), a pleasant tea room in an old colonial house in the historic center.
• Acarajé da Cira for the best donut in town, either in Rio Vermelho or in Itapoan.
• Churrascaria Boi Preto Prime, the best churrascaria in Salvador!
• Dona Mariquita, home-made Bahian cuisine, in a lively neighborhood in the evening.
• Cuco Bistrô, varied cuisine, terrace and outdoor musical entertainment from 7:00 pm.
• Mariposa, varied international cuisine, sandwiches, salads, small dishes, fast food atmosphere, children love it.
